Character Race concept art for my homegrown RPG campaign. The race of main villains. I named them twisted folk because their defiling use of magic effects them physically
In my campaign, magic is semi-sentient & can only be safely practiced by a special race in a symbiotic relation with it via special foci to harness & Channel its power. You can find a sample for that race in the [link] These bad boys actually "rape" magic and use it wantonly. In return, its power eats away at their flesh without conductor foci to channel through & magic itself is actively resisting them. However they have much more raw power because they are channeling magic directly without using an interface
thats an interesting concept. it gives good reason for their "disfigurement" is the rpg just in the concept phase? or is it in developement? what sort of rpg will it be? is there a website?
We are in the conceptual phase. Right now We're fleshing out the gaming world. The initial concept is exploring an alien world by humans whom had arrived in his fantasy world only a century & a half yrs ago. (This time medevial humans are the newcomer aliens )Populated by races in my gallery, (very much like humans with nuances in physiology hinting common ancestry. I will post the The final race tonight I guess)the the humans settled 12 colony city states around an inner sea in a geography littered by the runis predating the resident races on this world. The resident races loaned the inner sea lands to humans to settle and in return humans explore the ancient ruins and trade off thier findings to these resident races. Of course the arcane & clerical magic is quite different here from the place humans came from as I mentioned before which renders most artifacts they found unusable by humans. So it is a win-win humans find a new place to call home. Other races use humans to explore dangerous ruins & return powerful artefacts to them. Also residents thought humans' 12 fortified city states makes an excellent buffer zone against these bad boys in this pic whom mostly live in those abondoned ruins. It is a campagin of dungeon exploration if you focus on ruins or political intrigue if you are playing in city states according to player's tastes. And strictly NO DWARVES ELVES or DRAGONS(well this last one is still in debate )
how many of you are there in a team? just watching that documentary on indie game makers, it seems immensely stressful to get to and through developing stage.
We're old school guys. So it is old fashioned tabletop dice & paper FRP module. I think it was my mistake not to mention it at the begining We're a 5 people team in total and since we do not have to worry about computer programming & modeling our job is much more easier than the process you mention. It is interesting (and sad for old timers like me) that when you talk about fantasy role-playing, nowadays the first thing imagined is various online games with limited roleplaying capabilites instead of the original table-top theatral games.
